Carlo Ramous in Gubbio

Carlo Ramous in Gubbio

From 16 June 2017 to 7 January 2018 the splendid spaces of Ducal Palace in Gubbio are going to host a wide exhibition of sculptures of Carlo Ramous (1926 - 2003).

Ramous is one of the main sculptors of the second half of 1900: he exhibited all over the world with personal and collective exhibitions, his artworks are present in several museums and his sculptures embellish squares from Japan to Italy.

The relationship linking the artist to the Candles Town is long-standing: he participated in the Biennial of Sculpture in 1963; two years later one artwork of him “Event number 1”, after having won the first prize – purchase of the same exhibition, became part of the collection of the District’s Museum of Contemporary Sculpture, whose artworks are temporarily exhibited in the same Ducal Palace.

A personal exhibition devoted to Ramous was set up in 1987 and, precisely after 30 years, this exhibition wants to be a sort of celebration and a return of the sculptor’s artworks.

The Three-Years Exhibition of Milan will also devote a retrospective (from 12 July to 17 September 2017) to this master, among the protagonists of the international artistic scene in the second post-world war, in correspondence with the event in Gubbio.

Opening times

Until 7 January 2018: from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm (closed on Monday until 1 pm); from 15 June to 3 September from Thursday to Sunday, long hours until 10.30 pm.
