1958 - 2017 - The town in the Festival, a Festival in the town

A new kind of festival where you will meet young people of two worlds”: in that way the Festival of Spoleto, created and founded by Gian Carlo Menotti, was presented in 1958.

This is an event destined to change the course of a town’s history and to revolutionize the idea of making culture nationally and internationally.

The exhibition “1958-2017 - The town in the Festival, a Festival in the town” will be inaugurated on the eve of the 60th edition of the Two Worlds Festival, on Thursday 29 June 2017.

It’s a big spread exhibition, whose itinerary start ideally from the Albornoz Fortress with the 1958 section, at the roots of history, and finishes in the spaces, reopened for the occasion, of the former St. Agata Church, where you will find immersed in an evocative tale of the artistic events of the last 60 years.

Fragments of this wide and inspiring tale unfold all over the city along the mechanized routes of access to the historical centre and in the business activities.

Beyond the exhibition, the preview of the Two Worlds Festival includes the presentation of the volume “Spoleto in 1958. At the roots of history. The first Two Worlds Festival” and the initiative also includes the round table “The Two Worlds Festival and the festivals of the world”, scheduled at the Albornoz Fortress - National Museum of the Duchy, on the 5th and 6th July.
