The ancient tradition prescribes that during the night between 30th April and 1st May Terni is celebrating the spring arrival with a big festival: the Cantamaggio (Singing May). 

However, celebrations already begin some days before: on Thursday 28^th April they start at the Terni Secci Theatre with the May Song competition. This year the songs in competition are fourteen, which are original compositions telling through lyrics and music the Cantamaggio (Singing May) song history.

The allegorical carts are going to parade along the historical center roads on Saturday 30^th April, preceded by small carts: from Piazza Buozzi to Piazza Ridolfi, passing through Via Mazzini, Piazza and Corso Tacito, Piazza della Repubblica and Piazza Europa, where the stage is set up.

But appointments are not finished here. On Monday 2^nd May, always at the Secci theatre, it's going to be the time for the "Alighiero Maurizi" competition, concerning the May poetry in the Terni dialect. On the 6^th, 7^th and 8^th May are taking place, instead, the neighborhoods festivals, whereas from the 13^th to the 20^th May, in the halls of the Europe direct center of via Roma in Terni, it's possible to visit the multimedia exhibition "May, European festival".

A place is also given to food and wine with "Terni at the table", an urban path to discover the typical traditional products.
