Festival delle Biblioteche 2026

From 8 May to 6 June, the municipal libraries of Perugia take centre stage in a city-wide festival spanning five venues — Arconi, Sandro Penna, Biblionet, San Matteo degli Armeni, Nuvole and Augusta — with events every Friday and Saturday, plus a special date on Sunday 31 May.

The festival revolves around three themes: events, people and future. The programme ranges from creative workshops for children and adults — covering art therapy, crochet, illustration and coding — to author talks and book launches, theatre and music performances, film marathons and board games. Sustainability also features prominently, with plant and seed swaps and sessions on gardening and self-sufficiency.

Each venue brings its own identity: Sandro Penna hosts a poetry recital dedicated to the namesake poet and a green workshop on bulbous plants; Biblionet offers a talk on the book Semi di Carta and kamishibai readings for young children; San Matteo degli Armeni presents an evening in memory of Umberto Eco and a CoderDojo session for young programmers; Augusta organises a guided tour of the historic Palazzo Conestabile della Staffa. At Nuvole, on Sunday 31 May, Vittorio Giardino presents his new book with a signing session.
