Sagrantino International Challenge Cup
From the 21st to the 30th July the Acquarossa Park of Gualdo Cattaneo will renew the appointment with one of the most ever unique and particular events: the "Sagrantino International Challenge Cup", the rally of air-balloons coming from all over the world.
For 10 days very colourful air-balloons will take flight, colour the skies and fly over the typical Umbrian landscape: an unforgettable view to enjoy from below, but moreover to live from above!
The competition is based on the rules of the “America’s Cup” in the world of sailing boats.
Participants will have first to win the “Arnaldo Caprai Prestige Winemaker’s Trophy” through three tests (flights). The winning crew will be the one who will score the highest ranking; the latter will then compete in a single test against the current holder of the 2016 Sagrantino Cup.
The winner will be proclaimed champion of the 2017 Sagrantino Cup.
The most suggestive moment of the event will be on Saturday 22nd, when the crews will take part in a “Night-Glow”, during which, at the sunset, all the air-balloons will be inflated in a vertical position and in that way they will remain suspended for about one hour.
This occasion will mark the Italian record of the highest number of air-balloons inflated together in a specific moment in the national territory.
