In Assisi, on 5 September, the Marcia delle Otto Porte returns with an evening running event through the historic centre, following an urban circuit connected to the city’s ancient gateways. Now in its thirteenth edition, the event starts from Piazza del Comune and passes through Porta Nuova, Porta Cappuccini, Porta Perlici, Porta San Giacomo, Porta San Francesco, Porta San Pietro, Porta Sementone and Porta Moiano. The route gives participants the opportunity to cross some of Assisi’s most recognisable places after dark, combining physical activity with an exploration of the city’s historical and urban landscape. The event includes a competitive race for athletes wishing to test themselves along the course and a non-competitive section for participants who prefer to run or walk without an athletic ranking.
