In Francesco: Tre studi per una conversione

In Assisi, from September 9 to 12, the itinerant performance In Francesco – Tre studi per una conversione takes place, conceived and organized by the Piccolo Teatro degli Instabili as part of the Ogni angolo ogni pietra format for 2026. The project explores the legacy and the spiritual and cultural encounter between three major figures of the 20th century and the figure of Saint Francis: the American painter William Congdon, the French philosopher and mystic Simone Weil, and the playwright and actor Dario Fo. The theatrical and performative itinerary unfolds in three acts within the Sacro Convento di San Francesco, starting from the Bosco di San Francesco with Dario Fo's pictorial sketches, continuing to the Giardino dei Novizi through Simone Weil's letters, and finally reaching the Chiostro dei Morti with suggestions and dance inspired by William Congdon's pursuit of light. The show, structured for a maximum audience of sixty spectators per performance with a start time of 18:45, combines words, movement, and music to enhance the city's historical and cultural heritage through an artistic experience outside of traditional theater venues.
