Festa del Rinascimento 2026
In Acquasparta the Festival del Rinascimento returns from 6 to 21 June 2026 for its 27th edition. For fifteen days, the Umbrian village will host performances, cultural meetings and historical events inspired by the figure of Federico Cesi, the Lincean prince who chose Acquasparta as his residence in the early seventeenth century.
The theme of the 2026 edition is "Mirabilia Mundi: Beyond the Human Eye, the Renaissance between Visible and Invisible": a journey through science, philosophy and art that retraces the Renaissance drive towards knowledge of the invisible, from the birth of the microscope and telescope to the interplay between scientific knowledge and creativity. The theme will also be explored in the light of artificial intelligence, with two lectiones magistrales — by theologian Vito Mancuso on 8 June and by the Rector of the University of Perugia, Massimiliano Marianelli, on 16 June.
The event will open on 6 June with the Grand Parade of the Districts: the three districts of the village — San Cristoforo, Porta Vecchia and Il Ghetto — will compete for fifteen days in the Gastronomy Contest, the Drummers' Contest, the Grand Game of the Goose in costume, the Theatre Competitions and the Ladies' Games. Among the evening events, on 7 June the national flag-wavers' review "Vexilla ad caelum" and on 19 June "La Notte delle Streghe", a fire and acrobatics show by the Compagnia Lux Arcana.
