Umbrorum gens antiquissima Italiae. The Umbri are the most ancient people of Italy.
This is how Pliny the Elder described the inhabitants of this land more than two thousand years ago. An ancient region, shaped by the Umbrians, Etruscans and Romans, where even today every hill seems to conceal a story.
Lost cities, monumental necropolises, buried villas and ancient theatres emerge from the landscape like fragments of a great tale inhabited by priests, poets, matrons and emperors. Sometimes we know their names. At other times, all that remains is an inscription, a legend or the ruins of an abandoned building.
This itinerary is a journey into Umbria’s most ancient past, discovering seven archaeological sites, each telling its own unique story. An adventure through history and mystery, where you can feel a little like Indiana Jones without ever leaving the Green Heart of Italy.
