National Day of Forgotten Railways
It's an itinerant journey through Italy, in the most evocative places of the disused railway heritage, aimed at showing the routes that are no longer active. Some of the itineraries will be transformed into cycle/pedestrian routes, while other ones will be developed as railway tourism lines.
The National Day of Forgotten Railways is coming back on Sunday, March 3, with its twelfth edition.
The aim of the initiative is to promote and encourage the recovery and enhancement of disused railway sections in Italy through the reactivation of the service or their transformation into greenways or cycle-pedestrian tracks. Every year, therefore, there are all over Italy numerous events attended by thousands of fans of soft mobility, by bike, on foot, on horseback or on steam trains along the preserved historical routes.
In addition to the day of March 3, several events will take place until Sunday, April 7.
