The exhibition, promoted by the Umbrian Museum Centre - Archaeological Museum and Roman Theatre in Spoleto, in collaboration with Astra onlus and the State Archives of Perugia (Spoleto section) makes public the photographs taken by the archaeologist inspector Umberto Ciotti, who documented the demolition and excavation work. The material made available by the Etruscan Academy of Cortona and the archives of the Umbrian National Archaeological Museum reveals new aspects relating to the discovery of the Roman theatre and the transformation of the S.Agata complex from a judicial prison (1867-1957) into a museum: the works began in 1938 and were completed in 1957.
