Crocefisso del Tufo Necropolis - Orvieto
The Necropoli del Crocefisso del Tufo—its name comes from a crucifix incision on the tuff rock—extends all along the northern tuff rock slope, upon which the ancient Etruscan Velzna—Orvieto—stands.
Discovered in the 19th century, it represents an extraordinary evidence of Etruscan history and culture. Visiting this site is essential and complementary to the visits to The National Archeological Museum and the Claudio Faina Museum of Orvieto, which preserves a great number of finds, above all the rich ceramic goods. |
