VIATICUS - Il festival dei piccoli turismi 2026
Massa Martana hosts from 24 to 26 May VIATICUS, Italy's first festival entirely dedicated to small-scale tourism and its communication. Three days built around the idea that communicating a territory is a shared act, capable of creating community, strengthening local identity and generating real economic value in villages and inland areas across the country.
The festival opens on Sunday 24 with the pre-festival Minima Bucolica, a curatorial project placing temporary art installations along the Monte Cerchio trail up to the prehistoric hillfort at its summit: a moment of walking and listening to the landscape as a first interpretive gesture toward the territory.
Monday 25 is the central day, structured around six panel-stations addressing as many areas of local tourism: destination ecosystem, pilgrimage and long-distance routes, olive oil tourism and gastronomy, cycling tourism, wine tourism and archaeological tourism. The day closes with the VIATICUS Award ceremony for communication of small territories.
Tuesday 26 opens the festival to the surrounding area with a tour of the archaeological sites of Massa Martana and the olive mills and wineries of the Monti Martani: a direct experience of the places the festival aims to promote and give voice to.
