Season of Light
In Amelia, from 4 July to 29 September, Season of Light presents a selection of works from the Luciana Conti and Aldo Paladini Collection dedicated to the theme of light in its different manifestations. The exhibition brings together paintings by Corrado Cagli and Filippo De Pisis, alongside a work by Fausto Pirandello already on display since the previous November, creating a journey that explores the relationship between light, nature, objects and the human figure.
The works engage in a dialogue through different interpretations of the same theme. In Still Life by Filippo De Pisis, light recalls the sea and the natural environment from which the depicted elements originate, conveying a sense of brightness and openness even within the composition. In Vase of Sunflowers by Corrado Cagli, light is evoked through memory: the flowers, symbols of the sun, are shown cut and placed in a domestic setting, suggesting the transition from the natural world to a more intimate space and the gradual fading of their vitality.
With The Washerwomen by Fausto Pirandello, the theme takes on a different perspective. Light does not come from outside but seems to emerge from within the pictorial composition, shaping the figures through matter, volumes and colour relationships, giving the scene a suspended and timeless quality.
Through these three works, Season of Light presents light as both a narrative and interpretative element: natural light, remembered light and inner light become ways of observing reality and its transformations. The exhibition continues the dialogue begun with the previous exhibition Women’s Gazes, offering a new reflection on perception and artistic representation.
