San Francesco tra arte, natura e spiritualità 2026
Between Terni and Gubbio, from 11 April to 13 June, an integrated itinerary unfolds through the Umbrian places connected to the figure of St Francis, as part of the exhibition Giotto e San Francesco. Una rivoluzione nell'Umbria del Trecento, on view at the Galleria Nazionale dell'Umbria until 14 June. The project, curated by Tempus Vitae with the artistic direction of Marco Grilli, offers guided visits, workshops for children and families, and events in settings where spirituality, nature and art converge in a landscape that has preserved its authentic character.
The programme opens on 11 April in Terni with visits to the Sanctuary of St Francis, the Church of San Cristoforo, and the Church of Sant'Antonio da Padova. On 19 April, the route moves through the Amelia area, calling at Amelia, Lugnano in Teverina, Alviano, and the Grotta di Sant'Illuminata in Guardea. 9 May is dedicated to the Convento dello Speco in Narni, founded in 1213, with a walk through the woods and a visit to the hermitage carved into the rock. On 23 May, the itinerary reaches Gubbio, to retrace the legendary encounter between Francis and the wolf. 13 June closes the cycle with the medieval village of Stroncone and Lago di Piediluco.
Two free workshops — on 12 April and 10 May — will engage children and families in exploring the Canticle of the Creatures. All visits are free and require advance booking.
