Perugia 1416 2026

In Perugia, from 5 to 7 June 2026, Perugia 1416 returns for its 11th edition, transforming the historic centre into a space dedicated to the memory and representation of the city’s medieval past. The event features a diverse programme combining history, performances and traditional competitions, actively involving the city’s five districts.

Among the main novelties of the 2026 edition is the theatrical challenge between the districts, where Porta Eburnea, Porta San Pietro, Porta Sant’Angelo, Porta Santa Susanna and Porta Sole will take part in evening performances developed with the support of theatre professionals. Alongside this initiative, the programme includes some of the event’s most representative moments, such as the entrance into the city of Braccio Fortebracci, the night-time historical parades and the traditional competitions including Archery, the Mossa alla Torre and the Corsa del Drappo. The final day also features the children’s mini palio, designed to engage younger participants.

There will also be in-depth events and related activities. On 23 May, at the Teatro della Sapienza, a full day will be dedicated to food traditions and dining customs between the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, including tastings inspired by historical cuisine. During the festival, visitors can also explore a documentary exhibition focused on the Sassaiola, take part in the Ludus Perusinus tournament, open to different age groups, and visit the taverns offering menus inspired by medieval tradition.
