Méliès en plein air 2026
Perugia hosts the sixth edition of Méliès en plein air – D’Essai D’Estate from June 13 to August 27, an open-air film festival held in the Cloister of San Fiorenzo and dedicated to auteur and independent cinema.
Founded in 2020, the festival focuses on films that combine contemporary productions with significant works from film history. The programme offers an alternative to mainstream cinema through collaborations with independent distributors.
It includes several thematic sections dedicated to specific directors and cinematic perspectives. These include “The Child’s Perspective”, a programme dedicated to Wong Kar-wai and another focusing on Wim Wenders. The programme also features two films by Robert Bresson, Au hasard Balthazar and Mouchette, among the central titles of this edition.
The festival opens with Tutto il male del mondo, a film dedicated to the story of Giulio Regeni. Before and after the screenings, visitors can also enjoy free access to the exhibition “POP - OSB #sonosolodisegnetti” by Mirco Gatti.
