Befana a Perugia 2026
Perugia, on 6 January 2026, celebrates Befana with a day of events in the historic centre, designed to involve residents and visitors. The programme includes initiatives linked to tradition and community participation, taking place in the city’s main public spaces.
The morning begins in Piazza IV Novembre with the Motobefana, a motorcycle gathering that moves through the city centre and attracts numerous enthusiasts. Later, the square hosts the arrival of the Befana of the Municipal Police, accompanied by a parade of vintage cars and motorcycles, reflecting a long-standing local tradition.
Throughout the day, moments dedicated to the educational and community dimension of the event highlight the festive occasion as an opportunity for social exchange. In the afternoon, Piazza IV Novembre comes alive again with entertainment and activities designed for families and children.
The central moment of the event is the traditional descent of Befana from the cathedral bell tower, crossing the square and reaching the Fontana Maggiore, one of the most anticipated rituals of Epiphany in Perugia. The day concludes with the distribution of Befana stockings for children.
