Itinerario di viaggio
Arrival in Gubbio and visit of the town by electric quadricycle with special focus on the places of the Spirit: Sant'Ambrogio Hermitage. The hermitage, one of the most evocative buildings in the area, set amidst rocky crags, rests on walls almost perpendicular to the road, which juts into the narrow "Gola del Bottaccione ". In the Middle Ages, a system was created in this gorge to dam the waters of the Carmignano torrent (Bottaccio), with which the city aqueduct was supplied. The monastery is close to a 'prehistoric citadel', consisting of terraces set against the rocky walls, protected by imposing 'cyclopean walls'.
Afternoon dedicated to relaxation in the famous Messegué centre.
Overnight at the Park Hotel ai Cappuccini.
Breakfast in the hotel and then visit to medieval palaces. The political life of medieval Gubbio is concentrated around the Piazza Grande, built in 1321 in the heart of the city with the creation of an square, open to the valley below, with the Palazzo del Podestà (1349) on the left and Palazzo dei Consoli (1332-1349), housing the Civic Museum, on the right
Lunch at the Locanda Dame e Messeri.
In the afternoon, visit to the Hermitage of San Girolamo, home of the Capuchin nuns. The Convent of San Girolamo was founded in 1358 following a supplication by three Eugubini members of the Compagnia dei Battuti or Disciplinati, who, desiring the hermit life, asked the Bishop for the place known as "la selva di S. Agostino" where there was an oratory dedicated to St Jerome. In 2000, the Poor Clare Sisters of the Holy Trinity moved into the convent. A place of Franciscan spirituality linked to the values of peace, prayer and mystical recollection. The church is also a Marian Sanctuary where Our Lady of Fatima is venerated, as well as the valuable Crucifix by Innocenzo da Petralia (1637), the same author of the one venerated in the convent of San Damiano in Assisi and at the Holy House of Loreto.
Dinner and overnight stay at the Hotel dei Cappuccini.
After breakfast in the hotel, set off by electric car to visit the KeBio agritourism, set in a green oasis of the countryside of Gubbio, about 4 km away. Walk in the woods and along paths that run along three lakes in an unspoilt nature, cultivated exclusively following the organic method. KeBio's natural agriculture uses techniques and traditions that harmoniously reconcile human needs with those of nature through the application of production mechanisms that nature has always used. Yogic farming is practised with minimum soil tillage and sowing by hand.
Pranzo con prodotti biologici presso la stessa Azienda.
Dinner and overnight stay at the Park Hotel ai Cappuccini.
Breakfast at the hotel and then departure by electric vehicle to visit the hermitage of St. Cecilia at Pieve d’Agnano. St. Cecilia, from a good family of Gubbio, decided to share an austere spiritual path as other young people of the period, whom she taught to become fervent religious people and who accompanied her like family towards sanctification.
Afternoon of relaxation at the Wellness Centre.
Dinner and overnight stay at the Nikis Resort.
Breakfast at the hotel and departure.
