ITINERARY:
1) Start (Assisi – Hotel Bellavista): we begin with a scenic climb that takes us upwards, leaving the Basilica behind us.
2) Armenzano: the first village we come across, built in concentric circles on a rock. A magical place overlooking the Topino Valley.
3) San Giovanni: we carry on through pastures and woods, reaching this tiny stone hamlet, a symbol of peace and seclusion.
4) Collepino: the descent towards Spello reveals a gem: Collepino, a perfectly restored medieval castle, set into the rock.
5) Lunch stop: just outside Collepino, we stop for lunch to sample local cured meats, cheeses and the famous ‘crescia’, in a rustic and lively atmosphere.6) Return to Assisi: after lunch, we return to Assisi via the scenic olive-tree-lined route or the lower valley road, enjoying the afternoon light.
