The hotel is housed in a medieval building, where St Agnes, sister of St Clare, is presumed to have lived for some years. The front part, adjacent to the "Portella San Giorgio", the main entrance to the town in the Middle Ages, was the site of a medieval hostel, where pilgrims arriving in Assisi rested.
