Festa dei Ceri 2025
On 15 May each year, Gubbio hosts the Festa dei Ceri. It is not a simple religious festival (closely linked to the celebration of the patron Saint Ubaldo) or a historical commemoration, but a day that encapsulates the soul of an entire region, where tradition and culture intertwine.
The three Ceri, each surmounted by the statues of St. Ubaldo, St. George and St. Anthony, are carried on the shoulders in a race that winds its way through the alleys of Gubbio's historical centre, until it reaches Monte Ingino and the Church of St. Ubaldo.
Among the most significant moments of the day is the “raising” of the Ceri in Piazza Grande, where the “capodieci”, in a spectacular manoeuvre, lift the imposing wooden structures, each weighing almost four hundred kilos. The actual race starts at 6 p.m., creating an event full of emotion and tradition.
