Corpus Domini in Orvieto 2025
From 24 May to 22 June 2025, Orvieto will host a series of events to celebrate Corpus Domini, enriched this year by a special occasion: the 75th anniversary of the Historical Parade.
The programme opens on Wednesday, June 18 at 9:15 PM in the Church of Sant’Andrea with a concert dedicated to the Mystery of the Eucharist, conducted by Maestro Riccardo Cambri. The following day, Thursday, June 19 at 5:00 PM, in the Expo Hall of the Palazzo del Capitano del Popolo, a photographic exhibition will be inaugurated, created in collaboration with Fotoamaorvieto. The selection, which includes previously unpublished images from the Sborra Collection of the “L. Fumi” Public Library, visually retraces the history of the Historical Parade and its creator, Lea Morelli Pacini.
On Friday, June 20 at 9:00 PM, the “Nicoletta De Angelis” Ladies’ Parade returns for a night-time procession through the streets of the historic centre. In Piazza Duomo, the show “I Mercenari d’Oriente”, presented by Gianluca Foresi, will take place, including the presentation of a new gown, the result of the collaboration between the “Lea Pacini” Association and the Brera Academy of Milan.
The programme continues on Saturday, June 21 at 10:00 AM with a celebratory conference in the Sala dei Quattrocento, focusing on Lea Pacini’s legacy and the evolution of the Parade, including reflections on the future and the opportunity to purchase limited edition signed posters by artist Maurizio Rosella.
The most anticipated event is scheduled for Sunday, June 22 at 10:00 AM, with the official appearance of the Historical Parade for the Corpus Domini celebrations, 75 years after its first edition in 1951, when Bishop Francesco Pieri commissioned Lea Pacini to “create something to enhance the Corpus Domini procession”. From that first group of rented costumes, the now-renowned Parade was born—today a true heritage of historical identity and artistic craftsmanship for the city of Orvieto.
