Carnival of Sant'Eraclio 2025
he Carnival celebration is among the oldest in Umbria, tracing its origins back to 1542, when the Olivetan monks of Mormonzone opened their abandoned convent to the people, allowing them to celebrate in the streets in contrast to the nobles’ private parties held inside aristocratic palaces.
It was a celebration filled with dances and songs, with flower-adorned floats parading through the streets, accompanied by trumpets and flutes.
Since 1960, the organization of the allegorical float parades and all other carnival events has been managed by an association called Carnevale dei Ragazzi.
This year too, the Sant’Eraclio Carnival will delight all visitors with wonderful parades of allegorical floats and masked groups through the town’s streets, along with exhibitions and performances.
