Sunrise and Sunset Concerts
In Perugia, from 24 July, a new edition of the UmbriaEnsemble Sunrise and Sunset Concerts begins, a festival that brings together music, nature and the urban landscape through performances held at sunrise and sunset in historic locations across the city. Established more than a decade ago, the festival is distinguished by its choice of urban venues rather than natural settings, highlighting the relationship between the city’s heritage and live music.
The 2026 edition explores the theme of Transition, inspired by the Franciscan tradition from a cultural and artistic perspective. The Sunset Concerts programme features chamber music by Franz Schubert, Joseph Haydn and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, focusing on themes of time, spirituality and human experience.
The festival also celebrates UmbriaEnsemble’s fifteenth anniversary with three quintet performances. The opening concert will take place on 24 July at 8:30 p.m. at the Monteripido Convent Belvedere, featuring UmbriaEnsemble performing Schubert’s String Quintet in C major, D 956, followed by a programme exploring transformation, memory and the relationship between humanity, nature and art.
