In Orvieto, at the Teatro Mancinelli, from 29 August to 13 September, the Festival della Piana del Cavaliere returns for its tenth edition, this year dedicated to the theme of “Proximity”. The programme includes symphonic music, opera, bel canto, chamber music, musical theatre and literature, with events for different audiences. The opening on 29 August features Pippi Longstocking and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6 in a version for string sextet. The following days include concerts devoted to Rossini, Verdi, Mahler and Berg, musical talks and an opera gala inspired by Puccini’s La Bohème. On 12 September, the programme features an event on Italo Calvino and Luciano Berio and the Grand Symphony Concert with works by Schumann and Beethoven. The festival closes on 13 September with the Georgian Quartet. Masterclasses, concerts and meetings with artists complete the programme.
