Festival del Medioevo a Gubbio 2026
In Gubbio, from September 23 to 27, the twelfth edition of the Festival of the Middle Ages, entitled "The Time of Francis", takes place. The event is a cultural journey at the dawn of the thirteenth century to celebrate the figure of Francis of Assisi eight hundred years after his death, recalling his deep bond with the territory of Gubbio, where he wore the habit for the first time and where the famous encounter with the wolf is set. Through popular history lectures, the event addresses major themes of contemporary society starting from the subtitle "Homo homini lupus", analyzing conflicts, fears, and contradictions of today's world in parallel with the thirteenth century. The program features about a hundred participants, including medievalists, art historians, writers, scientists, philosophers, architects, and journalists. The five days are enriched by exhibitions, markets, shows, historical reenactments, thematic focuses, and major cultural events such as the Medieval Book Fair, Author Evenings, Scriptoria, Browsing History, Medievalisms, and the University of Reenactors.
