Festa delle Erbe Dimenticate 2026

On 16 and 17 May 2026, the Lago del Vigi and the historic centre of Sellano host the Festa delle Erbe Dimenticate, dedicated to rediscovering wild herbs and the culture of foraged food in the Umbrian Apennines.

Gathering herbs in the woods was a daily practice for the rural communities of this area: wild chicory, dandelion and many other plants were used in cooking, drawing on knowledge passed down through generations. Over time, this closeness to nature has faded, along with the flavours that came with it.

The event aims to bring renewed attention to these products and the local botanical and gastronomic traditions. Planned activities include guided walks with botanical experts, workshops for children and adults, activities for physical and mental wellbeing, and the chance to taste dishes prepared with wild herbs. A local crafts and produce market and street musicians and artists round out the two days.
