From August 11 to 24, 2025, Città della Pieve will host the 51st edition of the Palio dei Terzieri. This event enlivens the summer of the Umbrian village by evoking Renaissance atmospheres through ceremonies, parades, competitions, and moments of strong community involvement.
The central days of the Palio culminate in the grand historical parade—featuring over 800 participants in costume—and the Caccia del Toro, a spectacular contest inspired by an ancient form of knightly training.

The origins of the Terzieri—Borgo Dentro, Casalino, and Castello—date back to 1250, when Città della Pieve, during a brief period of autonomy, was divided into three parts corresponding to today's urban districts.

The Caccia del Toro, held in the scenic Piazza del Plebiscito, sees the archers of the three Terzieri compete in an attempt to hit a moving target represented by a majestic allegorical cart.
In addition to the historical reenactment, the town taverns are another beating heart of the event. Set up along the historic streets, they offer traditional local dishes made with selected ingredients, such as “Spicy Snails” from Terziere Casalino, the “Archer’s Pork Shank” from Terziere Borgo Dentro, and the “Prior’s Gnocchi” from Terziere Castello.
All of this in an atmosphere that recalls the splendor of the past, offering visitors an immersive cultural and culinary experience.
