“Presepi d’Italia” - Mostra Nazionale del Presepe Artistico 2026
In Massa Martana, from December 5 to January 6, the 23rd edition of Presepi d’Italia - National Exhibition of the Artistic Nativity Scene will take place. Held for over twenty years within the medieval walls of one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy (Borghi più Belli d’Italia), the event offers an overview of the nativity scene tradition and artistic craftsmanship. The main feature is the Ice Nativity Scene, dedicated this year to the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis of Assisi: a 10-square-meter work sculpted from 3,000 kilograms of ice and kept at -17°C, where light reflections illuminate the Nativity. Alongside this installation, the exhibition itinerary features classic nativity scenes by Italian makers and works of art created by sculptors and ceramists. The event is accompanied by the traditional fire lit in the main square and includes the opportunity to visit the Nativity Scene Museum, the only museum in Umbria dedicated to this art form.
