The Tenuta Le Velette estate has the peculiarity of being a single body of about 270 hectares, within sight of the city of Orvieto, at an altitude ranging from 270 to 330 metres above sea level. This large surface area has made it possible to identify around 130 hectares ideal for the cultivation of vineyards which, depending on the exposures they enjoy, are destined for the different vine varieties that best benefit from each of these positions. Vines, however long-lived they may be, also age and must be replanted, and the scheduling of soil regeneration periods, approximately every 30 years, as the plots age, leads us to practice annual cultivation for this purpose. These, although aimed at the future new vineyard, or used to cultivate those plots of land that are otherwise unusable, contribute to maintaining a diversified agricultural activity on the estate, giving the landscape, with the intense prominence of vineyards, a visible and perceptible naturalistic balance.
ESTATE LE VELETTE E.V.O. OIL
The centuries-old olive groves, distributed in different areas of the Estate, consist of only typical Umbrian varieties: Moraiolo, Frantoio, and Leccino. The olives are grazed and harvested on nets of synthetic material, so as to preserve their integrity, the first step in obtaining superior quality oil. The same day of the harvest, the drupes are sent to the oil mill where a continuous cycle plant transforms them and returns the extra virgin oil of the highest quality thanks to the timeliness of the process. The oil is then placed in stainless steel containers in dark rooms away from heat sources.
