Itinerario di viaggio
Arrival in Umbria and check-in at the hotel. The first afternoon is spent in Perugia, with a stroll along Corso Vannucci to Piazza IV Novembre, the city’s monumental heart. During the Christmas period, the Rocca Paolina provides a particularly charming setting for the Christmas markets: a stroll through ancient underground passages, featuring crafts and gift ideas. Free evening (option to book a dinner featuring local specialities on request) and overnight stay.
After breakfast, departure for Corciano, one of Umbria’s most picturesque medieval villages. A stroll through the walls, the narrow streets and small squares allows you to discover its charm, enhanced during the Christmas period by traditional nativity scenes. Lunch at your leisure, then onwards to Castiglione del Lago. The village, clustered around its fortress, offers splendid views over Lake Trasimeno. As evening falls, you’ll have the chance to admire the light installations of the ‘Luci sul Trasimeno’ event, subject to the scheduled programme. Return to the hotel (dinner featuring local specialities can be booked on request) and overnight stay.
A day spent in Gubbio, a medieval town with an unmistakable character. A stroll through the San Martino district, amongst narrow streets, stone arches and Christmas decorations, before reaching the town centre and Piazza Quaranta Martiri. Free time to explore the markets, sample local specialities and admire the views of the town. The most eagerly awaited moment is the switching on of the famous Christmas tree on Monte Ingino, a gigantic illuminated display that overlooks Gubbio and is one of its best-known symbols. Dinner can be booked on request at a traditional restaurant. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.
Breakfast and check-out. For those wishing to make the most of their trip, we recommend a stop in Assisi for a stroll amongst the basilicas and through the historic centre before heading home. Travel Advisor’s Tip In Gubbio, choose a vantage point overlooking Monte Ingino before the tree is lit up. The transition from the light of sunset to the evening illuminations is one of the most evocative moments of the trip.
