The building is situated in the centre of a vast plot of land and stands on the hillside above the Arnata stream. Legend has it that there is a long underground tunnel, rich in hidden treasures, connecting Belforte to the two neighbouring castles, ‘Fiore di Mezzo’ and ‘La Torraccia’. The fortress, austere and imposing, was scaled down over time and became a farmhouse owned by the Congregation of Charity of the Nuns of Todi. Since 1972, the castle – which has been largely restored – has been owned by the Dominici family. Thanks to the skilful and careful restoration of some of the castle’s rooms, guests have access not only to the Breakfast Room (“Convivium”) but also to five medieval-style rooms: - The Todeschini Room - The Nobles’ Room - The Swords Room - The Chess Room - The Prison Room. Set in the Umbrian countryside, Belforte Castle boasts a beautiful garden, a small children’s playground and a communal lounge area.
