The City of the Cliff comes alive again, from 6 to 8 June 2025, with the event ‘’Orvieto in Fiore‘’, to anticipate the celebration of the most important religious festivities of late spring and early summer: the Feast of the Palombella and the Feast of Corpus Christi.

Orvieto will become a flowering of colours to enhance the beauty of the city.

On 8 June the appointment with the Festa della Palombella will be renewed.

The descent of the white dove onto the beautiful Piazza del Duomo, on the day of Pentecost, dates back to 1404 at the behest of the noble Monaldeschi family and has been repeated uninterruptedly ever since.

On the fiftieth day after Easter, at midday, a white dove ‘takes flight’ from a panel depicting the Empireo and, travelling along Via Maitani along a metal rope, reaches the Cenacolo set up on the cathedral square, thus representing the descent of the Holy Spirit to Earth.
