Festival del Medioevo a Gubbio 2025

In Gubbio, from September 24 to 28, 2025, the eleventh edition of the Festival del Medioevo will take place, with the central theme this year being “The Journey. Pilgrims, Travelers, Explorers.” The event aims to offer a new perspective on the Middle Ages, dispelling the prejudice of a static era and highlighting the continuous movements and cultural exchanges that characterized it. Historians, philosophers, journalists, and popularizers will alternate in delivering lectures, exploring the journey as a metaphor of life and transformation, recounting migrations, nomadic empires, pilgrimages, maps, merchants, travelers, and missionaries who explored distant lands.

Sessions will be held at the Santo Spirito Conference Center, which will also host focuses on the city of Gubbio and new editorial releases. The evening author sessions will take place in the Church of San Domenico with conferences and theatrical readings on themes related to travel and medieval culture, such as art, historical maps, love, and the Decameron. The Festival also offers exhibitions, markets, performances, reenactments, educational activities, and a large book fair dedicated to the Middle Ages, enriching the cultural experience over five days. The event, conceived and directed by journalist Federico Fioravanti, represents an opportunity to rediscover an era full of movements, discoveries, and encounters.
