We can tell you the streets of Perugia’s historical centre in those days of July by following the blues notes of B. B. King’s guitar or accompanying with the voice some piano melodies of Keith Jarrett. We could also tell you the emotion of hearing Sting’s and Eric Clapton’s chords, but it wouldn’t be enough to talk about Umbria Jazz, the international festival devoted to Jazz in all its nuances, that has been taking place since 1973 in Perugia.

Across 10 days, from the 13th to the 22nd July, the big space of St. Giuliana’s Arena, the fascinating stage of Morlacchi Theatre and the National Gallery of Umbria are going to host important names of the international musical landscape.

The 2018 edition is important because it will be the 45th anniversary of the Festival that will be celebrated with a schedule rich of big names and artists: Massive Attack, The Chainsmokers, Pat Metheny, David Byrne and many others yet to be announced.

Walking in the places of the historical centre you will be accompanied by a unique leitmotif: jazz’s notes. The day in the IV November Square, the heart of Perugia, and of Carducci Gardens will be marked by the several free concerts, whereas whilst walking along Corso Vannucci you may come across one of the famous Funk Off’s street parades.

It’s a unique occasion to see Perugia in one of its most vivid and particular times that made it an exceptional stage for international musicians as well as a delightful must for all jazz lovers.
