Since July 14, 2011 it was inaugurated the Paleontological Museum of Pietrafitta hosting the fossil remains found in the area surrounding the high valley of the river Nestore.
The museum is called Paleontological Museum "Luigi Boldrini because it was Luigi Boldrini who began to form the first paleontological collection in the sixties. Infact, he was an assistant supervisor of mine and systematically and continually inspected the excavations. Currently the collection of fossil of lignite quaternary remains is made up of several thousand specimens of its kind and it has become one of the most important collections currently known in Europe. The developed mining activity with its wealth of "industrial archeology” is a further element to confirmation of the cultural importance of the area.  Infact the mining activity can be understood not only as the history of the works and machinery used by industry.  It can be understood above all as a story of those who worked in the mine and then social history of a particular industrial and geographical range.
