Back in 1962, Giorgio Lungarotti decided to transform his farm and to specialize in viticulture and wine-making. Since then, Cantine Lungarotti (Torgiano, PG) has become Umbria’s symbol of excellence in Italy and worldwide. Today the group, still a family business with about 100 employees, is guided by Chiara Lungarotti (CEO since 1999) and her sister Teresa. Two hundred fifty hectares of vineyards between the Torgiano and Montefalco estates, 28 labels and 2.4 million bottles produced annually, exported to 50 countries worldwide. These are the numbers that make up the wine “assets” of the Lungarotti group, which turned over 11.4 million euros in 2014 and is active in all phases of the wine and agro-food chain, with its production of olive oil, balsamic condiment and jams. The group is also particularly active in tourism and culture, with the Lungarotti Foundation and its Olive oil and Wine Museums, as well as Le Tre Vaselle wine resort and the Poggio alle Vigne agritourism property.
