Icons and Martyrs in Bettona
From October 5 to January 6, 2020, the Bettona Museum hosts two masterpieces of Umbrian Renaissance art that have been preserved until now in the deposits of the National Gallery of Umbria.
The monumental panel of the Madonna and Child on the throne by Eusebio da San Giorgio and the compartment depicting Santa Lucia by Perugino are on display.
The two masterpieces were both part of the dismantled polyptych of Sant'Agostino, coming from the homonymous Perugian church.
These are two different works but, at the same time, deeply connected by an artistic and poetic inheritance derived from the masterful iconographic representation of the holy martyrs, protagonists and witnesses of the great Christian tradition.
During the inauguration, it will be possible to take part in an interesting and unprecedented guided tour showing the works on display and the permanent collection through the most representative iconographies, techniques and features of the works, giving a vision of the museum as a platform for meeting and exchange.
An unmissable opportunity for the visitor to develop a deeper understanding of the two masterpieces in relation to the historical and artistic context of the permanent collections, too.
Opening time:
from Friday to Sunday 10h30 am-1h00 pm / 2h30 pm - 5h00 pm
open December 8th, closed December 25th and January 1st
