Penelope in Rasiglia with Roses
“I am alone in this Alpine place
At the foot of a sacred and glorious mountain
Where, among lived stones, rises a source
that conveys its waters murmuring a bit...”
Marco da Rasiglia, poet
Penelope in Rasiglia is an event taking place every year in the eponymous village in order to promote the frame weaving typical of the Menotre Valley.
It’s an ancient medieval art whose tracks can be still seen today, thanks to the many woollen mills and dyeing plants of the area and to the skilled hands of some weavers who pass on this precious craft knowledge.
On the 9th and 10th June, in the “Waters Village”, tales of everyday life and work, that were centred on this activity, will be the main thread in an itinerary that is going to overlap with the inspiring environmental and architectural context of Rasiglia , by creating an inspiring reminiscent moment of popular traditions.
The schedule also includes exhibitions and laboratories, but also many performances, music shows and film screenings.
