Il Dio del Massacro
On the evening of Friday 9 August, at 8.45 p.m., Yasmine Reza's play ‘The God of the Massacre’ will be staged in Assisi, in the evocative atmosphere of the Agriturismo Oasi Battifoglia (Loc. Paradiso 33), free of charge.
The public will be able to watch the theatrical study among torches and stars, with a wonderful natural setting.
At 11.30 a.m., on the other hand, it will be possible to take part in an open rehearsal at the Piccolo Teatro degli Instabili in Assisi, to reveal the behind-the-scenes preparation of a performance.
The performance in question, will be the return of the course of study of the 15th edition of the summer residency ‘Io Non Parlo Sono Parlato’, where the student actors will have constructed, through continuous improvisation work, a participatory dramaturgy, following Reza's text, which restores the sense of relationships, in this global phase of social disintegration.
The play stems from an altercation between children, out of which arises a quarrel between the parents, who in their total egocentricity, shut away in a private home, without ever going out, discuss topics that completely exonerate their children. A simple exchange of opinions becomes a war, bringing out the most animalistic and instinctive side of man.
This is how the primal side of seemingly well-off and well-mannered people slowly emerges.
