The Feast for the Afterlife

The grave 48 in Piazza d'Armi. The exhibition - extended for the second time - concerns the superb graves of orientalizing age (VII sec.a.C.)in Spoleto and is focused on feast vases, especially from the grave 48.


There, in this peculiar grave of warriors with carpenter tools, in a storage-pit dug under the buried, a complete set of feast vases has been found, with large kraters, a Schnabelkanne (beak

jug) and several cups. The third sceptre from the King's Grave will be also presented: made with iron and copper, it shows the enigmatic drawing of a knight. The sceptres and the whole burial treasure are exposed in two new cabinets, funded by the Association "Amici di Spoleto" and by the Foundation "Cassa di Risparmio di Spoleto". The preparation has been performed by the Cultural Association "Astra - Personale della Soprintendenza archeologica dell'Umbria
