The “2018 Strasubasio” is the Assisi hike that will take place on 15^th April aiming at enhancing all aspects of cycling, from sport to landscape as well as food and wine. It’s a unique occasion to discover by bike the historical, artistic, religious, natural and landscape beauties of Umbria.

The itinerary unfolds from Assisi along the Umbrian Valley and crosses town centres such as Spello, Bevagna, Montefalco, Spoleto, Bastardo, Cannara, Santa Maria degli Angeli.

It’s a journey in the Italian Green Heart at the discovery of a surprising region thanks to its history, nature, culture and beauty, with a particular attention to its food and wine traditions.

The event is open to everyone, from cyclists to lovers thanks to the three proposed itineraries: the hike - 210 km (long track), 140 km (medium track) and 56 km (short track).

1. Hike – Long Track

The first track, 210 km long and with a difference in height of almost 3000 m, follows the “Rando Umbria Centre” permanent itinerary, certified by ARI and promoted by the Umbria & Bike regional thematic Consortium. The itinerary, reserved for the expert and trained bikers, will reach the most important town centres of Umbria, in the following sequence: Assisi, Spello, Foligno, Bevagna, Montefalco, Spoleto, Todi and Perugia.

1. Basic Hike – Medium Track

The second track, 140 km long, with a difference in height of 1800 metres, winks to the marathon runners of the old Strasubasio itinerary, who will have the opportunity to experiment a different way to test themselves and to experience a beautiful itinerary allowing to cross and visit town centres like Assisi, Spello, Foligno, Bevagna, Montefalco and Spoleto.  

1. Promotional Hike – Short Route

The third track, 56 km long with a difference in height of 500 m, is instead a cycle-tourism route open to everyone, not demanding, allowing to discover, by crossing them, the town centres of Assisi, Spello, Foligno, Bevagna, Cannara and St. Maria degli Angeli. The itinerary also uses some sections of the Spoleto Assisi cycling track.

The Strasubasio is the first stage of the interregional track of the ARI “HIKING SPIRIT” (Umbria, Tuscany, Marche) and is valid both for the qualification to the 2019 Paris Brest and for the 2018 ARI Italian Championship.
