From 21 to 28 July, Passignano sul Trasimeno will stage the 41st edition of the historical re-enactment of the Palio delle Barche, with eight days of games, shows and food and wine to re-enact the historic battle of far-off 1495 between the noble Perugian families of the Baglioni and Oddi families. 
Centro Storico, Centro Nuovo, Oliveto and San Donato, the city's four districts, will compete in a three-phase competition. 
In the first phase, the boats will compete in the water until they reach the town's wharf, and then begin the very fast race with a winding and difficult route through steep streets and stairways, inside the historic centre. Back at the pier, the competitors will take the road to Lake Trasimeno to finish the race.    
During the week preceding the exciting race, the districts will open their taverns, giving visitors the chance to taste typical local dishes and enjoy shows and historical representations in costume.
