Oil Marathon
In the year dedicated by MiBAC (Ministry of Cultural Heritage) to Italian food as a cultural heritage, the choice was to set the events in the historical and monumental heart of Orvieto, in its cultural places.
The exhibition-market will be divided between Palazzo del Popolo and Palazzo dei Sette connected by an exhibition structure through Piazza del Popolo: there will be more than fifty stands, half of which will be reserved for the first fruits of new oil and the main olive producers of southern Umbria, the rest for quality agro-foods and thematic handicrafts.
A special space will be dedicated to Slow Food Umbria, represented by five Presidia: the Roveja legume antico (ancient vegetable) of Civita di Cascia, the Fagiolina (Bean) of Trasimeno, the Mazzafegato of the upper Tiber valley, the black celery of Trevi, the Smoked Holy Wine of the upper Tiber valley and the Fagiolo secondo (second bean) of the Plan of Orvieto recognized exactly in 2018.
The Palazzo dei Sette will host during the three EVO (Extra virgin olive oil) days an INFO POINT where it will be possible to participate in short tasting courses, guided tastings and workshops for children.
The same location will also house a photographic exhibition that will allow you to discover the beautiful landscape of the Oil Marathon in the naturalistic variations offered by the hills of Amelia, Narnia and Orvieto where the olive tree is always the protagonist, as in Lugnano in Teverina with its worldwide collection of 930 olive trees of over 300 varieties present in 19 states. The programme will be completed by in-depth studies, visits to oil mills and guided walks in the area.
