Festa Grossa di Collestrada 2025
From August 8 to 17, 2025, the village of Collestrada will host the Festa Grossa, an event returning after ten years and held every five years since the 15th century. The celebration blends faith, art, music, and community, dedicating this edition to the historical connection with Saint Francis.
The program features religious ceremonies, concerts, theatrical performances, exhibitions, sports activities, and guided tours. Each evening, the square and terrace will come alive with live music, theatre, literary gatherings, and traditional local cuisine, alongside photographic and painting exhibitions. Highlights include a residency for young sculptors under 35, an immersive video projection dedicated to Saint Francis, and, on August 9, Giovanni Scifoni’s monologue Fra’ – Saint Francis, the Star of the Middle Ages.
Children will have their own space with Bimbi al Borgo, offering creative workshops, games, and interactive activities, and Pomperopoli, organized by the fire brigade. The Palio dei Rioni, the contest between Collestrada’s districts, also returns. On August 16 at 6:30 PM, the awards ceremony for the national literary competition Collestrada: The Colors of Words will take place, inspired by the Canticle of the Creatures, which received over one hundred entries.
