A cycle route of about 60 km develops along the Tiber from Città di Castello to Perugia, according to the model of one of the most famous European cycle routes. It´s an easy and totally flat itinerary, that alternates own parts that have been recently built to secondary routes with little traffic and immersed in the nature.

The itinerary starts from the most important town of the High Tiber Valley, Città di Castello, for then following the course of the river towards South, by cycling in a mainly rural context, among cultivated fields and woods, while enjoying the song of birds and the noise of the river. Through a small deviation and a short uphill it´s possible to visit the village of Montone, one of the most beautiful Italian perched villages , before reaching Umbertide.

From here, among ancient farmyards, abbeys, small villages, the cycle path goes on following the river´s course until reaching Perugia´s doors, by alternating routes with little traffic to parts in its own area.

It´s an ideal itinerary to discover the beauties of the Umbrian main town together with a new and less visited area of the Italian green heart: it´s a perfect mix among rural landscapes and artistic beauties, suitable to everyone who loves travelling slowly and visiting uncontaminated places.

From Perugia it´s possible to reach Assisi, and from here to go on along the Assisi-Spoleto cycle route, through an interesting cycling itinerary, so to make accessible a long cycling itinerary from Città di Castello to the Marmore Waterfall
