1946-2016. Seventy years of the Italian Republic political life

Seventy years have passed since when on the 2nd of June 1946, with a universal suffrage referendum, the Italian citizens have been called to choose between Republic and Monarchy. It has been an historical moment that didn't just revolutionize the Italian state structure, but it also marked another big conquer, the first time of the vote to women. 


To celebrate the anniversary, the historical center of Perugia welcomes the exhibition "1946-2016. Seventy years of the Italian Republic political life" that can be visited from the 25th of May to the 20th June.

An exhibition telling the birth of the Italian Republic, the evolution of the political language and of debate that the democracy arrival brought with it.

Four different locations documenting the most important steps of this process as well as the social and political following stages: 

 

  • From Monarchy to Republic

  • 1946 – Everyone at the polling place!

  • 1946 – 2016: the electoral campaigns billboards.

  • The political communication: from the political assembly to Internet.

Augusta Library: from Monday to Friday, 8.30 am – 6.30 pm; Saturday 9 am – 1 pm.
