4 Days

It is the ring of Alta Valnerina that from Spoleto allows you to reach the centers affected by the recent seismic event such as Monteleone di Spoleto, Cascia, Norcia, Preci.

A very beautiful route with enchanting landscapes that cross a very varied nature, indifferent to the effects of the earthquake.To reach these centers you do not cover the valley floor but you prefer secondary roads. Thus from Spoleto to Sant'Anatolia di Narco the Forca di Cerro pass is approached along a road parallel to the route of the famous former Spoleto Norcia Railway (now a cycle track on a dirt road not suitable for racing bikes). From Sant'Anatolia, Caso-Gavelli is tackled, one of the mythical climbs of Valnerina, inserted several times in the stages of the Adriatic Tirreno and the Giro d'Italia. To reach the other centers you must necessarily face other climbs, less demanding but equally beautiful for the landscapes that you cross.

The route is particularly challenging but, divided into stages, it becomes accessible even to the less trained not looking for performance but the widespread beauty present in this part of Umbria. TOT. 199 Km - DISL. 3176 Mt

DAY 1 • Spoleto - Cascia61 km - DISL: 1631 mt - Difficulty: +++++

You immediately face the ascent of Forca di Cerro which runs parallel to the famous former Spoleto Norcia railway, and then descend into Valnerina and from Sant'Anatolia di Narco continue climbing the stretch of 13 km of challenging climb to Caso and then Gavelli to then descend towards Monteleone di Spoleto and continue towards Cascia on a undulating path along the river Corno.

DAY 2 • Cascia - Postignano Castle63 km - DISL: 940 mt - Difficulty: +++

Continue on the flat road to Norcia and then head uphill to Forca di Ancarano and then take the Val Castoriana downhill to Preci through the areas of the earthquake of 2016. Always downhill continue on the Valnerina road to Triponzo and then reach in Borgo Cerreto and take the slightly uphill road that leads us to the Castle of Postignano.

DAY 3 • Castello di Postignano - Spoleto76 km - DISL: 605 mt - Difficulty: ++

You face the climb that leads to Sellano and Villamagina and then down and down along a beautiful valley to Rasiglia and then up to Foligno, always downhill. After the village of Foligno you get to Bevagna where you enter the Assisi Spoleto cycle path that leads us to this last town, crossing the whole Umbrian valley in the plains.
