Umbria is not bathed by the sea but is a region rich in water, between springs, waterways and lakes. The lake district of Lake Trasimeno, the fourth largest lake in Italy, is one of the most characteristic and well-known of Umbria, as well as one of the most appreciated by cycle tourists, who can decide to pedal on the plains along its banks or climb the hills that surround it, admiring its three islands from above and, if the time is right, unforgettable sunsets.Ancient fishing villages alternate with small beaches and tourist places, scenic spots of great charm are added to the beauties of the most important villages, such as Castiglione del Lago, Passignano, Tuoro and Magione.A soft, romantic landscape, ideal for cycling through to discover its countless facets. You can pedal along its banks, effortlessly, closely observing the fishermen and then stop for lunch in a small restaurant, overlooking the lake, to enjoy a plate of fresh fish or the typical testo cake. Or go up the hill, reaching the medieval villages of Panicale, Paciano and Città della Pieve, to visit these enchanting centers and discover some of the most beautiful scenic spots in Umbria.
Arrival in Passignano sul Trasimeno and first overnight stay. Passignano is one of the most known and lively villages of Lake Trasimeno, with the beautiful lakeside promenade, many clubs, restaurants and activities. In the afternoon, board the ferry and walk to Isola Maggiore, the only inhabited area.

Day 2 - Passignano - Sant’Arcangelo (20 km)
In the morning we start by following the Trasimeno cycle path in some sections, in others passing through the state road. We first cross San Feliciano, an ancient fishing village, enjoying the hills covered with olive groves and dotted with old farmhouses, and continue in the direction of San Savino, continuing to alternate some stretches on its own with others on a paved road. Just under a kilometer after the Oasis la Valle (nature center managed by Legambiente, where it is possible to observe the lake ecosystem in its many aspects) and continue to Sant'Arcangelo.
Dinner and overnight
Day 3 - Sant’Arcangelo - Castiglione del Lago (15 km)
From here to reach our final stop, Castiglione del Lago we have two possibilities: the simplest but still covering part of the state, reach a few kilometers after the end of the trip. Otherwise, moving away from the lake, go up the hill and a secondary road between the cultivated fields, before reaching Castiglione del Lago, lengthening in this case by about 15 km.
Return independently from Castiglione del Lago to Passignano for the recovery of your vehicle.
